Ég get ekki sett tímasetningu á það hvenær ég byrjaði á minni jógaleið, því ég held að ég hafi í raun alltaf verið á þessari leið sem ég er án þess að átta mig á því. Ég var snemma farin að velta fyrir mér tilgangi lífsins, hver ég er í raun og veru, hvað stýrir hugsunum mínum, hvaða kraftur þetta er þarna úti í alheiminum og fleira í þeim dúr.

Á mínum fullorðinsárum prófaði ég alls konar jógatíma og líkaði vel. Í fyrsta tímanum mínum hjá Kristbjörgu gerðist samt eitthvað stórmerkilegt innra með mér. Ég fann að ég var á réttum stað. Ég var heima.

Síðan þá hefur ekki verið aftur snúið. Eftir ástundun hjá Kristbjörgu skráði ég mig í jógakennaranámið hennar árið 2014 og síðan hef ég verið í stöðugu námi hjá henni og meistara okkar, Sri Swami Ashutosh Muni, hér heima og í Bandaríkjunum.

Jóga er sú allra besta gjöf sem ég hef gefið sjálfri mér og fjölskyldunni minni. Jógavísindin nýti ég mér á hverjum einasta degi, í störfum mínum og einkalífi.

Jóga er svo miklu meira en að mæta á dýnuna, gera jógastöður og anda með þeim. Jóga er leið til að lifa. Lifa til fulls alla 24 tíma sólarhringsins. Lifa í tengingu við sjálfan sig.

Í jógasútrum Patanjali´s er talað um hina áttföldu leið Raja yoga; Yamas, Niyamas, Hatha, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana og Samadhi. Áhersla mín í daglegu lífi er fyrst og fremst að lifa í sem mestu samræmi við yömurnar, sem er grunnurinn að öllu sem á eftir kemur.

Jóga hefur kennt mér mér óendanlega mikið um mannleg samskipti og lífið sjálft. Vegna jóga þekki ég sjálfa mig betur en áður og næ að vera í betri tengingu við sjálfa mig. Vegna jóga er ég betri einstaklingur en áður; betri mamma, eiginkona, amma, dóttir, systir, meðferðaraðili o.s.frv.

Jógaleiðin er leiðin mín heim. Heim í hjartað.
